Faculty Sufficiency

Participating faculty members actively engage in the college administration which go beyond their direct teaching responsibilities, whether their appointment is full-time or part-time. We have defined three areas of responsibilities outside of teaching including instructional activities, research activities, and service activities. Full-time faculty, and part-time faculty fulfill with 5 activities or above are classify as participating faculty, otherwise supporting faculty.

  • Attend teaching/pedagogy workshops or seminars

  • Design and develop new curriculum and courses

  • Participate in study abroad trips/courses in a faculty leadership role

  • Participate in assessment activities

  • Participate in other faculty development events or activities

  • Write and publish teaching materials

According to AY 2022, the faculty sufficiency of each discipline is in line with AACSB standards, and each department has more than 60% faculty sufficiency. After gathering the faculty sufficiency of all programs, the participating bachelor's degree faculty is , participating master's degree and doctoral degree faculty was and , respectively. All of which complied with AACSB standards, which require that the percentage of participating faculty must exceed 75%.

Our college's mission is to cultivate the talents required by enterprises. To achieve this goal, we recruit professional technicians or high-level managers from enterprises as part-time faculty members. To ensure the quality of teaching, we examine their academic and professional qualifications before hiring them.

Part-time faculty members are mainly focused on teaching and have lower participation in school administration and research affairs. Therefore, they are often classified as "supporting faculty" according to the regulations of our Participating and Supporting Faculty. Consequently, the overall Faculty Sufficiency Ratios of our undergraduate program are only 78.48%.

In our graduate programs, we ensure the quality of teaching and research by employing only full-time faculty members as instructors, with only a few part-time faculty members. We value the participation of full-time faculty members in school affairs and, as such, research, teaching, and school administration are included as evaluation items in the teacher evaluation process. We actively encourage full-time faculty members to participate in our curriculum planning and teaching quality assurance-related administrative affairs. As a result, our Master's Degree and Doctoral Degree Faculty Sufficiency Ratios are as high as 83.38% and 93.23%, respectively.

Overall, our institution is committed to maintaining high standards of teaching and research quality, and we are constantly working towards improving our faculty sufficiency ratios.
